Special Issues Guidelines

Dermatology Journal publishes a variety of special issues guest-edited by some of the top academicians in the respective field.

About Special Issues

A Special Issue is a collection of publications that focuses on a specific field of research within the scope of a journal. Special Issues deal with timely topics of broad interest and often advance a novel debate, idea, or field. Guest Editors who are subject experts oversee the editorial process for papers in Special Issues.

The complete list of special issues which are currently accepting submissions is available at https://probiologists.com/Journal/OpenSpecialIssues/Dermatology-Journal

The sections that follow will summarize the benefits and duties of a Special Issue as a Guest Editor, the benefits of submitting your work to a Special Issue as an author, as well as special issue guidelines.

Responsibilities of Guest Editors
  •    Provide a short introduction that includes the scope, importance, and specific aims of the special issue
  •    Oversee the peer review process, and make suggestions on special issue articles
  •    Editors should guide the authors to make sure that their contribution fits well into the issue
  •    Guest Editors can freely publish 2 manuscripts in their respective special issue
  •    Write an Editorial to summarize the content of all articles published in the special issue
  •    Promote the special issue within their professional networks and social media, at conferences and meetings, to colleagues, and wherever else it may be appropriate

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue
  • ●   Special issue articles published in open access journals attract twice as many citations than the others.
  • ●   Special issue papers are usually published faster than ordinary articles.
  • ●   Special issues can also benefit the field by bringing attention to a certain subject.
  • ●   Articles published in special issues are often cited more frequently than regular issue articles.
  • ●   Special issues are fully committed to rigorous, independent peer review.
  • ●   A Special issue article will get you to connect with other researchers closer to your specialized area.
  • ●   Unlike regular issues, special issues will be promoted online to ensure the issue and its content is easily found.
  • ●   A special discount on APC for the special issue articles.

Special Issue Guidelines for Authors

Authors who are invited or intend to publish in a special issue should pay attention to the following terms:

  • ●   The manuscript to be submitted to the special issue must be original, not published formally elsewhere.
  • ●   Special Issue articles should fulfill all the normal requirements of any individual article. Read author guidelines before submitting the article.
  • ●   Submit the manuscript by the deadline; however, if you need more time in furnishing your article, you can request an extension.
  •    Indicate the name of the special issue in the cover letter while submitting.
  • ●   Submit the manuscript via the Online Submission System or by email to the editorial office.
  • ●   It's important to remember that being invited to contribute a manuscript to a special issue does not guarantee publication.
  • ●   Accepted articles will be published continuously in the journal's regular issues and will be listed together on the special issue page.
